Lapis Lazuli

Band Name: Lapis Lazuli
Status: Active
Genre: Symphonic Metal
City: Hammerdal/Stockholm
Country: Sweden
Label:
Awards: Band of the week (05 - 11 November 2012) and Band of the month (November 2012)

The story of Lapis Lazuli started in the late summer of 2005, when Timo Hautamäki played with the idea of starting a symphonic metal band while watching a Nightwish DVD. He contacted members from his other projects, namely Henrik Nyman, Jocke Ivarsson and Erik Lindfors. To fulfill the lineup he asked Joey Karlsson and Marie Fjällström to join the band, and they both said yes. The first gig was 2 months later, where they performed their first original song, named "Archangel".

But after the gig, Erik no longer wanted to be a part of the band. And the replacer was Tobias Rhodin, who had played guitar with Timo and Jocke in their former band Hatecrew. This lineup lasted for about 2 years, filled with several gigs and a demo called "Last Hour", which was released in 2006. In 2007 the band mainly did cover gigs with Timo on vocals since Marie lived 300 kilometers away from the rest of the band. The last gig with Marie on vocals took place in the summer 2007 in Backe, during an event named "Tribute to Lapis Lazuli".

During that summer the foundation for Aftermath was laid down. From the beginning it was only supposed to be a studio project, recording an album to send around to labels. Timo already had a vocalist in mind, namely Meliesa McDonell for whom he had recorded keys on her demo to Nightwish while they where searching for a new singer. She gladly accepted, and in 2008 the debut album "Tides of Sorrow" was released. By this time, the project had evolved into a band, and when the first tour hit the road in 2008, Aftermath had recruited Henrik as a session basist. After the tour the band decided that they had to get a permanent drummer, and that position was filled by Jocke.

For the next 2 years, the band was rehearsing and working on the new album. The band was going a little slow however, since both Joey and Jocke moved away from the rest of the band. However, in the summer of 2009 they both moved back, and after that the band has kept working hard. In 2010, the band changed their name back to Lapis Lazuli and kept working on their next release.

In 2011, Meliesa left the band since the distance became hard to overcome and present singer Frida Eurenius joined the band as the new vocalist. Short after that the band released the album "A Loss Made Forever" which became a a great success and the band kept on working on their next release.

In november 2011 the band released the brand new album "A Justified Loss".

Neverstar

Band Name: Neverstar
Status: Active
Genre: Symphonic Metal
City: Watford
Country: United Kingdom
Label:
Awards: Band of the week (29 October - 04 November 2012) and Band of the month (October 2012)

Neverstar is a Symphonic Metal band from the UK described as "Evanescence meets Godsmack". The band was officially formed mid 2009, but has been a six year ambition of founding members, Pieter and Vega. Led by Vega's passionate vocals Neverstar has played some of London's most prestigious venues and has built a reputation as a band destined for big things. The band's signature sound is inspired by classical and symphonic tones combined with pounding guitars and immense vocal melodies. Neverstar masterfully mixes emotion with theatrical settings and dark characteristics, which is amplified by ear splitting yet melodic guitar riffs. On stage, they convey electric energy, leaving the audience captivated and entertained. Following on from a very successful demo release in 2011, Neverstar entered the studio to record a new single earlier this year with producer Neil Haynes whose recent credentials include The Fallen, Awake, Doctor Fonda and Dead Man's Crossing. The single 'Lose Control' will be released on Monday 22 October of 2012, accompanied by a fan inspired music video shortly after. The first and title track on the single "Lose Control" is a powerful and energetic song that hits you straight in the chest with an uplifting drum beat and pulsing guitar riff. The track is complemented by Vega's sweet vocals skilfully layered on top. This hard driving song urges the audience to let it all go and lose control. A second track "Forgotten" is included in the single. The track has a distinct groove written to make any audience bounce to the beat. It tells a heartfelt story of overcoming constant criticism and being told that you're just not good enough. This band is definitely good enough, and for them, this is just the beginning.

Vega Sims - Vocals
Pieter Cronje - Guitar
Anthony Evans - Bass
Leigh Prout - Drums

SEDUCE THE HEAVEN is a metal band from Greece, formed in mid 2009 by guitarist Alex Flouros and soon joined by the lyrical soprano Elina Laivera on vocals founding in this way the main structure of the band. In the following months, a full album consisting of 10 tracks had already been prepared for the recording process.

Kivimetsän Druidi

Band Name: Kivimetsän Druidi
Status: Active
Genre: Symphonic Folk Metal
City: Kouvola
Country: Finland
Label: Century Media Records
Awards: Band of the week (15-21 October 2012) and Band of the month (October 2012)

-From Encyclopedia Metallum, "'Kivimetsän Druidi' is Finnish for "druid of the stone forest." Their lyrics are based on the fantasy novel Joni Koskinen is writing. The novel tells a story from 'The Land of the Crystal Mountain and Stone Forest.' 'Kivimetsän Druidi' originally started as a two man project of the Koskinen brothers" -From the Paganfest website, "The occult sextette forces the emotional polarity in music, wrapped in deep warrior-myths. Grim black-metallic art forms a symbiotic relationship with Nordic folk-harmonies. The sweet, but voluminous voice of snowprincess Leeni-Maria features a kind of counterpoint within the complete art of KIVIMETSÄN DRUIDI and directly puts the female singer in the limelight. With their current masterpiece titled „Betrayal Justice Revenge", the Suomi druids released a true milestone within the troll- and pagan-scene." -From me: Kivimetsän Druidi shares its vocal duties with both Joni Koskinen and Leeni-Maria Hovila. Hovila's voice has occasionally been compared to Tarja Turunen's vocal style (Nightwish). Her vocal range is very impressive, showing a distinguishable operatic timbre. Hovila's vocal capabilities demonstrate powerful expression and passion for what she does best.
