Elis

Band Name: Elis
Status: Active
Genre: Gothic/Symphonic Metal
City: Liechtenstein
Country: Liechtenstein

Elis began their musical career under the name 'Erben der Schöpfung' in 2000. In 2001, they released their first single "Elis" as well as their debut album Twilight. The band has appeared live at the Wave Gotik Festival in Leipzig, among others, has held on to favorable positioning on the DAC-Charts, and has remained well represented in the scene's press. Germany's Orkus Magazine, for example, featured Erben der Schöpfung as their top newcomer act of the month. This choice was later more than confirmed by the publications readership, who extended the honor by choosing the band as their Newcomer of 2001.
Following their split with Oliver Falk, the band re-emerged in 2003 under the new alias Elis (taken from the single/song by their former band). Produced at Mastersound Studio by Alexander Krull (Atrocity, Leaves' Eyes), God's Silence, Devil's Temptation was simultaneously released on Napalm Records with the re-release of Erben der Schöpfung's 2001 debut, Twilight.

Soon after the release of God's Silence, Devil's Temptation, Elis focused their energy on writing new material for their second offering. Between their song writing and recording duties, they found time to tour in a headlining capacity with label mates Eisheilig and The Vision Bleak. The tour took them to Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium.

Virus IV

Band Name: Virus IV
Status: Active
Genre: Rock / Heavy Metal
City: Namur
Country: Belgium

The band was founded by Samuel Arkan in 2006 with the complicity of Magali Luyten, joined afterwards Renaut Van Oeyen and François Brisk. The compositions show themselves effective and the band occurs successfully on stage during live gigs. Dark Sun is the name of this first album released in May 2008 at Pervade (Thundering Records) and is truly welcomed by the worldwide press! Virus IV is preparing its second album for 2009, also now together with a new member on bass, Christophe Babin.
Virus IV shows its affection for true power metal from the American continent, reminiscent to good old Vicious Rumors, Annihilator, Warrior and Warlord, injected with the new found élan of European metal acts like At Vance and Hammerfall. On top the band has been fuelled by the driving force and nu grooves of acts like Disturbed and Oomph! Meaning; it is melodic hard driving metal with a forceful drive! VIRUS IV has a pure melodic music and atmosphere, some great percussion work. All with intense power and lots of drama, the music of the band sounds from the school of Rammstein with marching riffs over a forceful stomping marching beat, and floating bridge leads powers up the dark and gloomy ambiance.

Autumn

Heavy metal, metal music, Evanescence, Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Women in metal, female metal music, evanescence

Band Name: Autumn
Status: Active
Genre: Rock / Gothic Rock
City:
Country: Netherlands

Winter 2009 heralds the return of Dutch heavy rock collective Autumn to the forefront with a new intense and diverse album: Altitude. In many ways a logical progression from 2007’s highly acclaimed album My New Time, it does present us with one surprising change: one of voice, introducing rising star Marjan Welman, taking over vocal duties from Nienke de Jong.
My New Time was a bold statement: "Through all adversity, here we are and we're here to stay." Let us not forget Autumn had already faced more setbacks than most bands would have been able to endure. It had not strayed them from course. However, fate had one more trick up its sleeve. Early 2008, vocalist and front woman extraordinaire Nienke decided to part ways with Autumn, leaving the band faced with their most difficult decision yet. Against all odds, the five remaining band members decided that this could not possibly spell the end of their musical endeavor and since the main body of composers and lyricists remained, the search was on for a new vocalist. Guitarist Jens: "It was clear that we wouldn't set out to find a second Nienke. There would be no one worthy of taking her place if that were our aim. Instead, we looked for someone whose voice, as well as personality, would gel perfectly with the Autumn that had risen with My New Time."

That ideal vocalist rose and shone as Marjan Welman entered the spotlight. Marjan, making quite the name for herself in Holland and abroad with her enchanting appearance on Ayreon's 01011001 album, was more than happy to audition and the chemistry between the six musicians was instant and undeniable. With the writing process for the new album well underway by the time she joined, Marjan immediately started playing an active role in pre-productions, rapidly taking to the material and bringing her unique warm voice to the songs, giving Autumn's sound a slightly different twist, while preserving its identity. Creating the new record proved very exciting and surprising, as each step of the way uncovered just how well Marjan's voice and emotional translation of the lyrics fit the songs. Jens: "Astonishing, how certain songs that hadn't really got that certain spark to them in the past, all of a sudden just burst into life when Marjan recorded some vocals for a quick demo! We feel this incarnation of Autumn has all the potential to realize all we want to encompass as a band. Altitude is testament to this and with the solid team we have built up around us, we feel we've got the means to back it up!"

Working together with the exact same team that was responsible for My New Time allowed the musicians to focus their energy solely on the creative process of composing Altitude. Guitarist Mats comments: "The certainty that we would end up with an extremely powerful sound meant that we could focus entirely on writing an album worthy of such a production." This also led to a deeper involvement in the production process. Pre-productions as well as a large chunk of the final recordings for Altitude were recorded at the band's home studios. In this way, individual band members were very much instrumental in molding, shaping and reshaping Altitude up to the very last stage. Fine tuning was once again in the skilled hands of Arno Krabman at Graveland studios. Jochem Jacobs added the finishing touches at Split Second Sound, taking care of the mix and mastering.

As for the result: From heavy grooving opening track Paradise Nox (with a remarkably sparkling vocal performance by Marjan) through to the last dying note of title track and rollercoaster ride Altitude, this monumental album offers as diverse array of music that transcends the boundaries of many heavy rock related genres. Short, compact, straightforward songs coexist with intricate, multi-layered songs that take their time to draw to a close. It makes for an album that is not so much a series of individual songs, but much more a kind of organic entity: music and lyrics challenging six gifted song writers in coming up with material to bring out the best in each other, whichever shape or form it might take. Jens: "We set out to write music that captures our hearts or imagination, not necessarily songs that fit a typical format. We pretty much work as a democracy, so from the 40 odd tracks we started out with, the selection that made the cut is as thoroughbred an Autumn album as can be."

The deliberate approach Autumn take to writing music and lyrics has a deeper motivation. Mats: "We're pretty much an album band, having grown up in times when buying an album meant embarking on a musical journey, a thrilling adventure. Nowadays, you often end up with a collection of songs, some killers, some fillers. For us, every note on this album has a purpose. Every second counts, so to speak." The band describe it as a yearning to return to past eras of epic albums, albums with a capital A. Autumn's Altitude may prove to fit neatly into that category. And this collective has only just begun its musical journeys...

Addiction Crew

Band Name: Addiction Crew
Status: Active
Genre: Hard Rock
City: Bologna
Country: Italy

Addiction Crew were formed in 1996. Two years later the band released 'Doubt The Dosage' (featuring Sepultura's drummer Igor Cavalera on the track 'Inside') greatly reviewed from local/european press. The 'Dosage Tour 2002' was about 40 shows touching Italy, Switzerland and France with amazing audience response, while the video for the single 'Download' got endless airplay on MTV Italy and RockTV. Addiction Crew spent the first 9 months of 2003 to compose and record their turning-point new album titled 'Break In Life', mixing Modern Metal with R&B music. After reaching a deal with new manager Emiliano Lanzoni, Addiction Crew got signed with Earache Records for a worldwide multi-album contract. First Single and Video coming out was the track 'What About' (featuring new female vocalist Marta) reaching No. 10 on Spain's MTV rock chart and No. 4 on Belgium's TMF essential rock chart. On 2005, while the band was on tour, 'Break In Life' reached No. 1 on Jaapan's HMV bestseller rock chart. Though the album's strong potential, Earache Records seems to be unable to properly promote the band and, on February 2007, while writing new material, Addiction Crew parts ways with the english label. On early 2008 the new album is ready, "Lethal" is reportedly more aggressive and metal-oriented than its predecessor, produced and mixed by ADDICTION CREW's guitar player/producer Alex Guadagnoli and UK's uprising producer James Dunkley (already engineer for the likes of Sabbat, Soil, Blaze Bailey, American Headcharge and more). "LETHAL" has hit stores on June 6 2008 via Aural Music/SPV and June 4 in Japan via RB Records.

Niobeth

Band Name: Niobeth
Status: Active
Genre: Symphonic Gothic Metal
City: Albacete
Country: Spain

The Begining
The idea of the band came up in Albacete in the summer of 2004 from the meeting between Itea (Vocals and Composition) and Jesus (Guitars and Composition). They began to look for a way to reflect the ideas and hopes they had in mind. Something original, different and special, finding their own way between the heavy and simphonic branchs of metal, with important influences of classical music and a light taint of folk.

Nevertheless, there was still another year to pass for Nibeth to get a consolidated formation and so the work began to be give results, aproximately in August 2005 with the first concerts of the band.

So, they prepare their first studio demo, recorded and mixed finally in August and September 2006. Under the name "Infinite Ocean Of Stars", the demo includes 6 tracks, five of own composition and an adaptation of The Magic Flute - Queen Of The Night Aria by W.A. Mozart.

In the months after the demo was completed, some changes in the formation happen, joining the band Santi (Keyboard) and Alberto (Drums).

The Growing

From there and until the begining of 2008 the band plays in some festivals and begins to tour over different cities of Spain, with concerts in Madrid, Sevilla, Alicante, Valencia, Murcia, Cantabria and Albacete, for example, sharing stage with bands as Saratoga and Centinela in some of the best stages of the country (Sala Q, Sala Gamma, Sala Durango, etc…).

With this first presentation card the band gets very good reviews in national and international specialized press as Rock Hard, for example, as well as in different radios. Besides, they are selected for various contests, both local and national, and winning the second prize in Tobarock.

The demo "Infinite Ocean Of Stars" sells very well in Spain through the web and concerts. In 2007, Niobeth appears in the international MetalMatanza compilation, which includes bands from South America, Spain and U.S.A., opening ways to new listeners out of their country.

In the begining of 2008 the band temporally stops their live shows to focus in the songs which will compose their first album.

The Step Beyond

The album, under the name "The Shining Harmony Of Universe" is recorded in August and September 2008 at Fernando Asensi Studios (Forever Slave, Opera Magna, Dragonfly, etc.) in Valencia, Spain. Produced by Fernando Asensi and Niobeth, the album is released in October 2008. The album has a length of 70 minutes and a total of 13 tracks, including the cover of The Magic Flute - Queen Of The Night Aria by W.A. Mozart and a bonus track, "Kowasani Furuete", an adaptation of one of the songs of the album, "A Frightening Shiver", with the lyrics in Japanese languaje. It has been distributed in Spain under the label Molusco Discos.

This album with epic and fantastic melodies counts with the collaboration of the best coral of Castilla-La Mancha: "El Orfeon de la Mancha", as well as with some guest musicians in instruments like flute, piccolo, ocarina (Lourdes Guillen), whistle, bagpipe, violin, etc. The recording of the bass lines comes by Juanba Nadal (Dragonfly).

At this moment the band is looking for international distribution.

Also, involved in "The Shining Tour", and preparing their first videoclip, which will be avaible at the end of May.

Raven Wings

Band Name: Raven Wings
Status: Active
Genre: Avantgarde
City: Buenos Aires
Country: Argentina

After Forever

Band Name: After Forever
Status: Disbanded
Genre: Symphonic Gothic Metal
City:
Country: Netherlands

After Forever was originally assembled in 1995 under the name Apocalypse, playing music most oriented towards death metal. With the joining of vocalist Floor Jansen in 1997, their style shifted slightly to a more gothic metal sound in order to give emphasis to her voice. Their line-up at this point comprised Floor Jansen, Mark Jansen, Sander Gommans, Luuk van Gerven, Jack Driessen and Joep Beckers.
In 1999 the band begun composing songs of their own and recorded two demos - entitled Ephemeral and Wings Of Illusion - which eventually drew the attention of the Transmission Records label, with whom the band signed a contract.

Their debut album Prison Of Desire was recorded in 2000, featuring the guest appearance of Sharon den Adel. The album obtained impressive success in Europe. In the end of that year, drummer André Borgman and keyboardist Lando van Gils joined the band, replacing Joep Beckers and Jack Driessen.

In 2001, the album Decipher was released. Floor Jansen was invited to guest sing in Ayreon, one of Arjen Anthony Lucassen's projects. In 2002 Mark Jansen was fired from After Forever and subsequently assembled the band Epica, being replaced by Bas Maas. In 2003, After Forever released the EP and DVD Exordium.

In 2004, the concept album Invisible Circles was released. It reached 26th place in the Dutch Top 100 musical chart. Lando van Gils also left the band and was replaced by Joost van den Broek in the same year.

In early September 2005, the band released their fourth album Remagine This album is available in two versions, an SACD with three bonus songs and as a ‘Special Edition’ with a DVD. The DVD contains a photo gallery and a 'making of' documentary.

On March 3, 2006, the band left the Transmission Records label, due to the scarce promotion that the label was providing. Following this, Transmission Records released the Mea Culpa compilation. By October of the same year After Forever had signed to Nuclear Blast Records.

In the end of 2006 the band recorded their 1st album on the Nuclear Blast label, self titled After Forever, it features guest appearances from Annihilator guitarist Jeff Waters and Doro Pesch. Videos of the recording sessions are available for download on the band website. The album was released in April 23, 2007.

In January 2008, After Forever announced on their website that the band would be taking a break of at least a year. In an interview with Ragnarök radio, Floor said the band would get together early 2009 to discuss After Forever's future.

On February 5th 2009 , After Forever announced that they decided to call it quits. The break in 2008, and partly 2009, made them realize that they do not feel the energy towards the band anymore.
